Starting the day with a touch of colour, as well as being pleasant, is a way to give a boost of energy and positivity and to better face the day.

Colour is undoubtedly a fundamental component of human psychology: it affects mood, communicates emotions, creates the right atmosphere for all situation. That is why colours are essential in furnishing, that is, in the setting of the space around us, to make us feel and feel better.

But - furniture aside, colour in the kitchen is also an excellent indicator to evaluate the balance of what we eat. Being able to eat every day a portion of vegetables for each of their five main colours (red, yellow, green, white and blue/purple) guarantees us to provide our body with everything you need to stay fit.

Foods of red colour (watermelons, blood oranges, beets, cherries, strawberries, tomatoes ...) contain two antioxidants, lycopene and anthocyanins, which have anticancer functions and help prevent cardiovascular diseases.

Those of yellow colour (apricots, oranges, carrots, clementines, persimmons, lemons, melons, peppers, peaches, grapefruit and pumpkins) have - besides anticancer functions - also the Beta-carotene, famous for the maintenance of tissues, the immune function and the view.

All green vegetables are associated with a reduced risk of developing cancer and cardiovascular disease. They are rich in magnesium, an essential mineral that stimulates the absorption of calcium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium, and rich in folic acid, whose deficiency determines anaemia, skin changes and nervous disorders. In turn, white foods (e.g. garlic, onions, apples, leeks, mushrooms and cauliflower) contain isocyanates, which slow down cellular ageing, in addition to potassium which prevents hypertension and protects the bone tissue.

Finally, blue foods (blueberries, radicchio, figs, blackberries, plums, aubergines) contain substances that are important for maintaining the eyesight, the structure of the capillaries, the functions of the urinary tract and preventing skin ageing.

Food and its colours, however, are not just health and prevention, they are pleasure and support of a life full of satisfaction. Choosing to fill our dishes with colour means above all to love and take care of oneself.
